Entertaiment

Entertaiment

Entertaiment means agreeable occupation for the mind, diversion or amusement, such as solving a daily crossword puzzle. It may also refer to a particular entertainment event or a particular genre of entertainment, such as a play, film, or musical concert.

Entertainment often has a light-hearted character, but many forms of entertainment have had serious purposes in the past. For example, ceremonies, religious festivals, and satire all provide entertainment, although the latter two can also be used to achieve insight and intellectual growth. The word entertain is sometimes abbreviated to entmt, particularly on industry news publications or when space is limited. But this is uncommon outside of the news industry. The word is sometimes used to mean the process of eliciting seratonin and dopamine from the brain through stimulating the body.
